Frequently asked questions

Here are answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please contact us by phone or email; we’re happy to help.

Q. How much does it cost to make something?

A. Depends on the product/container you choose. Pricing can be viewed here. Many of our jars are only available in store, so we invite you in at any time to see what we have available.

Q. What are your candles made of?

A. We use natural soy wax so that you can have the cleanest burn possible without putting harmful chemicals in the air. We also only use cotton paper wicks because they burn the cleanest. This doesn't mean there won't be soot, as that just can't be avoided, but there will be much less as compared to other materials.

Q. How long does it take for my candle to be ready?

A. Our candles will take a minimum of 2 hours to be ready for pickup, and large candles will require more time (time will vary per candle size).

Q. Can I make the scent stronger, or will it be stronger when I burn it?

A. Unfortunately no, we can't make the scent stronger. There is a bit of science to what we do, and adding more fragrance oil compromises the integrity of the wax and how well the candle burns. It's just not safe. The scent will naturally be a little stronger when burned, though.

Q. Can I bring my own jar or container?

A. Sadly, this is also a no. Because we can't confirm the safety of the container or how well it handles heat, we just do not want to take any risks when it comes to your safety.

Q. I've finally used up my jar that I bought from there. Can I bring it back and reuse it?

A. While we can't reuse jars, we will be more than happy to give you a discount on a new one when you bring your old one back.

Q. Can I bring my dog in with me?

A. Of course! We love all our companions, furry or otherwise. All we ask is that they be well-behaved and that if an accident should happen, you clean it up promptly.

Q. My candle is creating soot. Is this normal?

A. Absolutely. A little soot is pretty typical with burning anything. However, if you notice a lot or see smoke, check the following:

  • Make sure the wick is only 1/4 inch long. We've found when the wick gets too big that it creates too much heat, which is what creates the soot/smoke and burns the candle faster.

  • Make sure there are no drafts. Drafts are a candle's worst enemy and will again make it burn faster and smoke more.

  • Only burn your candle for 3-4 hours at most at a time. Longer just means everything gets that much hotter and burns that much faster overall. Our goal is to keep you enjoying your candle for as long as possible.

Q. I love candles, but I'm not allowed to have flames where I live or work. Do you have any other options?

A. You bet! In addition to candles, we also offer wax tarts, reed diffusers, and room sprays.

Q. Can I have a birthday party or other event here?

A.  We offer private parties for up to 20 people. The entire studio is yours for 2 1/2 hours! Scent specialists will guide your group through the scent selection process to make a custom fragrance for your candle, home, or bath and body product. Bring your own food and beverages to enjoy while the candles are set. Book your private party here.

Q. I'm traveling. Can I take my candle on an airplane?

A. Easily! We recommend putting it in your carry-on and having it clearly visible for when the agent checks your bag.
